How To Create A Master Bedroom The Both Of You Can Appreciate

Decorating a master bedroom can be challenging – trying to merge two different styles, without it looking too girly or masculine is a task. You want a room that you both can feel comfortable in and want to retreat to when the day is over. Check out these master bedroom decorating tips that will be cozy, appropriate and enjoyable.

1. Decorate With Neutral Colors

Neutral colors like olive green, taupe, cream, or white are soothing and serene. Keep the color scheme monochromatic, so that the room looks organized and neat. Accent colors should be subdued, unless you both love bold colors. Greens, blues, and deep grays are always great choices for accents if you want serenity in the bedroom. For more passion, a deep crimson red accent color can be great against a neutral scheme.

2. Use Rich Wood Furniture

Wood furniture adds an element of class and quality to a room. As long as the wood is not too light, it will give your room a mature, elegant look that won’t scream one gender or another. Beautiful furniture is a statement piece on its own, so if you pick the right pieces, you won’t need a ton of other accessories that might make the room look too fluffy or feminine.

3. Have Matching Nightstands

Two nightstands in the bedroom are essential for having a peaceful, argument-free bedroom. That way, both of you have have your personal essentials and can decorate each nightstand however you want. Place flowers on one nightstand and a black and white framed photo of you two together on the other side for a nice balance of masculine and feminine.

4. Plush, Simple Fabrics

Keep the bedding simple and relatively pattern-free to prevent disagreements over style, but do make sure everything is soft, comfy and relaxing. Everyone loves soft sheets, and high thread count cotton or linen will please anybody. On the floor, choose soft, fluffy rugs in a neutral color for comfort and cushion for your feet. Heavy draperies on the windows are gender-neutral and also help to drown out noise – making your bedroom a peaceful oasis.

5. Comfortable Seating

If your room is large enough to hold it, a seating area can be the perfect addition to the room. A small chair with a table for reading, a recliner in a cozy corner, or a 2-seater where you both can snuggle up are all great options if you want to relax in your bedroom somewhere other than the bed.

With these tips as a foundation, you can create a master bedroom that is tasteful and  that you can both be happy with. Ideally, a master bedroom should have personality and elements of you both in the room and be a place where you both can relax and unwind.
